Artist's Description
During a trip to Page, Arizona on the way back home I challenged myself to find the perfect image that would showcase the rocks and color of The Grand Canyon. I found the spot down at Lee's Landing. I took this image right before a storm blew in, when the light was at its most dramatic. The reflections that happened on the rivers edge told exactly the visual story I was after. I used a 10 stop filter to create the smooth look of the rivers waters.
About JoAnn Silva
Having a Grandfather who was an artist, an uncle who was a pioneer of mid-century modern architecture and a father who was a painter, ensured that JoAnn Silva was surrounded by inspiring art at a young age. Her grandfather created a studio in his home for his young grand daughter and at the age of three JoAnn Silva began painting, igniting her life long obsession with all things visual. However, it was during her years studying at Point Loma High School that she began to formally learn the skills of a trained artist. This formal training and disciplined approach to painting, photography and design continued as she pursued a Degree in Fine Art at the United States International University in San Diego.
