Artist's Description
Right after the sunsets in La Jolla, California the sky turns pink and the light fades. I have also noticed after shooting thousand of sunset images there that the ocean waves calm down a little, as if they are settling down for the night as well. This images is really about that moment when each surfer catches his or hers last wave of the day....and waits for the next mornings waves.
About JoAnn Silva
Having a Grandfather who was an artist, an uncle who was a pioneer of mid-century modern architecture and a father who was a painter, ensured that JoAnn Silva was surrounded by inspiring art at a young age. Her grandfather created a studio in his home for his young grand daughter and at the age of three JoAnn Silva began painting, igniting her life long obsession with all things visual. However, it was during her years studying at Point Loma High School that she began to formally learn the skills of a trained artist. This formal training and disciplined approach to painting, photography and design continued as she pursued a Degree in Fine Art at the United States International University in San Diego.
