Artist's Description
My goals for this image was to highlight the white elements of the river, indicating the rapid motion. I choose to work a composition that drove the viewer into the image, giving it a more intimate vantage point. The softness of the water feature contrasted with the rough rock formation compliment each other well.
About JoAnn Silva
Having a Grandfather who was an artist, an uncle who was a pioneer of mid-century modern architecture and a father who was a painter, ensured that JoAnn Silva was surrounded by inspiring art at a young age. Her grandfather created a studio in his home for his young grand daughter and at the age of three JoAnn Silva began painting, igniting her life long obsession with all things visual. However, it was during her years studying at Point Loma High School that she began to formally learn the skills of a trained artist. This formal training and disciplined approach to painting, photography and design continued as she pursued a Degree in Fine Art at the United States International University in San Diego.
